Letter: Sexual orientation fails protection list

The bill is now in the Senate Commerce and Labor Committee. It is tentatively scheduled to be heard the first or second week of May. There is time to let your senator know your opinion on AB311.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that for a minority to claim special protection as a minority, it must meet three qualifications: immutable characteristics, financial disadvantage and political weakness. The homosexual community, which is pushing for the special rights for sexual orientation, does not qualify on any of those qualifications.

There is no credible scientific evidence that anyone is "born that way." Thousands have left the homosexual lifestyle and now live a normal heterosexual lifestyle. The homosexual community is very well organized and funded. AB311 is evidence of its political strength.

Do Nevadans want to give special rights to sexual orientation? Call your senator.
