Brian Tollberg went five innings for the Stars, giving up just one unearned run on five hits. He struck out six and walked one.

Will Cunnane (1-0) pitched two innings to get the win, allowing one hit and striking out three.

Calgary's Armando Almanza (1-3) gave up two runs on one hit in one-third of an inning in the Pacific Coast League game.

Aaron Guiel singled home a run in the fourth for Las Vegas after the Cannons cashed in on Gary Matthews' error for a run in the top of the inning.
