Election '99: Adamsen, Goodman to debate
Friday, May 7, 1999 | 11:36 a.m.
Las Vegas 1 will televise a debate between Las Vegas mayoral candidates Arnie Adamsen and Oscar Goodman on Tuesday.
The pre-taped debate will air from 8 to 9 p.m. on Cox cable channels 1 and 39.
Adamsen said he welcomed the opportunity to debate Goodman.
"We've got to talk about real solutions to our city's problems, keeping down taxes, creating more parks, making our streets safer and moving traffic smoothly."
Goodman said he, too, was ready to talk about the issues and would be open to any candidate forums leading up to the June 8 general election. "I will debate every day if necessary."
Goodman, who won Tuesday's primary with 49 percent of the vote compared to Adamsen's 29 percent, picked up the endorsement of third-place finisher Mark Fine Thursday.
Fine held a press conference at Goodman's law offices, saying, "I debated Oscar, I've run against Oscar and while we have some philosophical differences, I have a great admiration for his abilities, his integrity and his vision for Las Vegas."
