No booze allowed at beach over holiday

Douglas County commissioners on Thursday approved the ban during those holidays as a way to curb rowdy crowds.
A temporary ban was enacted last Labor Day to avoid a repeat of a July 4, 1998 melee during which drunken youths pelted sheriff's deputies with bottles.
The commission action makes the ban permanent.
