The company that provides trash-hauling services in the Las Vegas area has settled a dispute with the union representing local workers.
Teamsters Local 631 members voted to accept Republic Silver State Disposal Service's proposal to subcontract its transfer services division to Specialty Transfer Services Inc.
In the agreement, Republic agreed not to outsource any other services while the Teamsters agreed not to picket or strike once the transfer service is taken over by STS.
The decision to subcontract came as demand has increased on Republic's own fleet.
STS will transport waste from several Clark County transfer stations to a landfill in Apex.
