Woman arrested because daughter missed school

Nancy Ann Winn, 42, was booked into the Carson City jail Wednesday and released on her own recognizance. She is charged with failing to prevent her daughter's absences and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Both are misdemeanors, authorities said.

School officials said Winn's 10-year-old daughter had 34 unexcused and 14 excused absences and was late numerous times for school between September and March.
