Margaret D. 'Granny' Adams, 61, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 13, 1937, in New Orleans. A resident for six years, she was a retired postal worker.

She is survived by her husband, Leary B. Sr.; one daughter, Sandra Ann Adams-Smith of Las Vegas; five sons, Leary B. Adams Jr. and Eric James Adams Sr., both of Las Vegas, Byron Anthony Adams Sr. and Keith Michael Adams Sr., both of New Orleans, and Timothy Joseph Adams of Bowie, Md.; one brother, James Francois Duvernay Jr. of Las Vegas; two sisters, Lois Guerin of New Iberia, La., and Diane Scott of Gardena, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. Mass Thursday in St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, 820 H St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Cherry Austin

Cherry Austin, 92, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born May 20, 1906, in Macon, Ga. A resident for three years, she was a retired hotel maid.

She is survived by two daughters, Irene Hoy of Las Vegas and Virginia Royal of Chicago; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Madeline Burkett

Madeline Burkett, 70, of Las Vegas died May 4 in a local hospital. A resident for many years, she was born Jan. 7, 1929.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth Burkett of Los Angeles.

Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Bernard J. Carlton

Bernard J. Carlton, 78, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born March 20, 1921, in Woodsocket, S.D. A resident for 19 years, he was a retired driver of a car rental company, a retired Air Force technical sergeant and World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Erlinda; two daughters, Carolyn Carlton of Las Vegas and Cheryl Richey of Washington, Iowa; one brother, Don Carlton of Orlando, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Jaime A. Contreras

Jaime A. Contreras, 43, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 16, 1955, in Mexico. A resident for five years, he was a pipe company salesman.

He is survived by one brother, Ricardo Contreras of Sun Valley, Calif.

Evelyn R. Coon

Evelyn R. Coon, 74, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Buffalo, N.Y. A resident for 21 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Coon of Las Vegas; and one sister, Betty Norton of Norwalk, Calif.

Harry Lee Duple

Harry Lee Duple, 63, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. He was born Nov. 8, 1935, in Worthington, Mo. A resident for six years, he was a retired law enforcement labor representative, a Korean War Marine Corps veteran, a member of the Long Beach Police Association and the Las Vegas Breakfast Exchange Club.

He is survived by his companion, Cathy Brundage of Las Vegas; one son, Robert Duple of Sacramento; one daughter, CJ Grant of San Francisco; one brother, Donald Duple of Kearney, Neb.; four sisters, Joann McWilliams, Ruth Sloboth and Anna Wortman, all of Omaha, Neb., and Mary Huber of Yucaipa, Calif.; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Darrell W. Farren

Darrell W. Farren, 73, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born April 22, 1926, in Quinwood, W.Va. A resident for 47 years, he was a retired hair salon owner-operator, a World War II Army veteran, a member of Sun City Golf Association, Sun City Sawdusters Club, Sun City Model Club, Sun City Computer Club, Las Vegas Prop Nuts and Las Vegas "Z" Auto Club.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores; one daughter, Cheryl DeFilippis of Las Vegas; one son, Darrell "Fred" Farren of Fountain Valley, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Vicky Martini of Washington, D.C.; one stepson, Larry Wallace of Henderson; one sister, Ethel Fox of Charleston, W.Va.; one brother, Quinwood Farren of Dunbar, W.Va.; and eight grandchildren.

Freddie Fields

Freddie Fields, 84, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 4, 1914, in Shreveport, La. A resident for two years, he was a laborer in the rubber and tire industry and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; two sons, Andre Lee Fields of Los Angeles and Charles Edward Nicholson of Las Vegas; three daughters, Angra Rene Fields, Audrey Lavigne Fields and Evelyn Preston, all of Los Angeles; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in California. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Natale J. Gambardella

Natale J. Gambardella, 77, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 31, 1921, in Bridgeport, Conn. A resident for 26 years, he was an automobile mechanic and World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by three daughters, Nancy Gambardella, Delores Miner and Susan Covey, and one son, Raymond Gambardella, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Anthony Gambardella, and three sisters, Marie Gambardella, Carmella Tuozzolli and Rose Sansonetti, all of Bridgeport; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-8 p.m. today in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Scott A. Growe

Scott A. Growe, 35, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 27, 1963, in East St. Louis, Ill. A resident for 10 1/2 years, he was a cook.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; one daughter, Elizabeth Growe of Las Vegas; his father, James Growe of San Jose, Calif.; two sisters, Pamela Meng of Las Vegas and Rhonda Pannier of Ames, Iowa; and two brothers, John Gasawaski and Deron Growe, both of Las Vegas.

Katherine Hopkins

Katherine Hopkins, 91, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 7, 1907, in Anthony, Kan. A resident for 38 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by four sons, Joe Hopkins of Henderson, Stanley Hopkins of Tempe, Ariz., Jim Hopkins of Farmington, N.M., and Lloyd Hopkins of Chandler, Okla.; one sister, Merle Newsome of Harper, Kan.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Isabel McCarty

Isabel McCarty, 86, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 20, 1913, in San Ignacio, Mexico. A resident for 13 years, she was a retired seamstress.

She is survived by one son, Ronald McCarty of San Bernardino, Calif.; two daughters, Dahlene McCarty of Las Vegas and Lucile Gonzales of San Manuel, Ariz.; one brother, Luis Lopez, and five sisters, Sara Lopez, Inez Lopez, Maria Jesus Lopez, Bertha Lopez and Lydia Lopez, all of Mexico; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Trevor Paul Pickering

Trevor Paul Pickering, 45, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 14, 1953, in Salt Lake City. A resident for 25 years, he was a computer designer.

He is survived by his parents, Paul and Betty Pickering, one sister, Kim Murdock, and his companion, Harold Harley, all of Las Vegas; one niece, one nephew, and several grandnieces and grand nephews.

Mable Reeves

Mable Reeves, 93, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 17, 1906, in Beaver Dam, Ariz. A resident for 72 years, she was a homemaker, received a citation from former Gov. Mike O'Callaghan for her contributions to the Veterans Administration, was a member of the Women's World War I Veterans Auxiliary and donated her time on local elections board.

She is survived by two sisters, Irene Carstens and Florence Shaw, both of Las Vegas; and eight nieces.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Bunkers Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Gussie L. Simon

Gussie L. Simon, 62, of Las Vegas died Sunday in North Las Vegas. She was born May 14, 1936, in Oak Grove, La. A resident for 42 years, she retired after 27 years from the Sands hotel-casino as a porter.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; four daughters, Betty R. Feazell, Dorothy J. James, Brenda J. Simon and Laponya Simon, three sons, Larry Feazell, Jerry B. Simon and Christopher Simon, and three sisters, Dorothy Jones, Dezzie Williams and Truddie Reed, all of Las Vegas; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in New Bethel Baptist Church, 400 W. Adams Ave. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Palm Memorial Park.

Robert 'Al' Smith

Robert 'Al' Smith, 57, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 6, 1941, in Asheville, N.C. A resident for 30 years, he was a bus driver.

He is survived by one daughter, Donna Mia Smith of Las Vegas; four brothers, Booker T. Anderson of Moreno Valley, Calif., Walter Smith of Las Vegas, Louis Smith of Asheville, N.C., and Jerry Smith of Washington, D.C.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Wednesday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. A prayer service will follow in American Burial and Cremation Services.

Jerry C. 'Uncle Jimmy' Snyder

Jerry C. "Uncle Jimmy" Snyder, 82, of Montecito, Calif., died Wednesday in Montecito. He was born July 10, 1916, in Pennsylvania. A former Las Vegas resident, he was a Merchant Marine and a World War II veteran.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He is survived by one daughter, Lee Anne Strella of Las Vegas; and five sons, Pat Strella of Incline Village, Robert Strella and William Strella, both of Long Beach, Calif., Dennis Strella of Sacramento and Tom Strella of Hawaii.

Ruth Zirzow, 80, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born April 20, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Leo Herman; one son, Arthur M. Winston of Reseda, Calif.; two brothers, Leon Rosen of Las Vegas and Steven Rosen of Mendocino, Calif.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
