Cold Springs man charged with sexual assault

Washoe County sheriff's detectives arrested John Lignowski Thursday and charged him with three counts of sexual assault and two counts of lewdness with a minor under the age of 14.

Social Services officials contacted sheriff's deputies after a 19-year-old boy told his mother that Lignowski had sexually assaulted him.

The teen told authorities he reported the incident because he was concerned about the safety of his 6-year-old half brother. Sheriff's deputies said the 6-year-old indicated he too had been sexually assaulted by the suspect.

In addition, investigators questioned a 6-year-old girl who is a relative of Lignoswki and reported that she too had improper sexual contact with the man.

Lignowski was booked into the Washoe County jail. His bail was set at $40,000.
