special programFirst Congregational United Church of Christ is sponsoring a community resource fair 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at 1200 N. Eastern Ave.

The Rev. Jerry Stinson, Pilgrim UCC will speak on "Church and the Community."

UNLV professor to speak at cafe

UNLV political science professor Dr. Tim Fackler will give a free presentation, "The Events at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo.: A Political Perspective."

This free talk will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Cafe Copioh, 4550 Maryland Parkway.

Free workshop planned Tuesday

A free Career Fashion workshop is being offered 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Computer Learning Centers, Inc., 2290 Corporate Circle, Suite 100, Henderson.

The goal is to demonstrate how a 30-day wardrobe can be provided from Dress Barn/Dress Barn Women.

Recreation center plans beginners class

A rock climbing course for beginners is being offered at 7:15 a.m. Saturday at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway.

The all-day event is open to anyone over the age of 12. Participation is $55 and includes all necessary equipment and transportation. Instructors will provide participants with an overview of the vertical environment and rock climbing.

Celebration planned for children Saturday

Woodsy Owl Day is a free celebration for children ages 5 through 12 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Spring Mountain Ranch State Park.

The event will offer performances by Metro Police's canine unit, Silver Dolls Dance Team, Zelza Shriners Pipes and Drum Corps, Magical Weaver Roz Knight, karate and related martial arts groups. For more information, call 594-PLAY (7529).

Time to prepare for coming season

Southern Nevada Youth Football's Pop Warner league is holding sign-ups for the 1999 fall season.

Dates to sign up are Saturday and June 5 and 12 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Players and cheerleaders ages 7 through 14 need to bring a birth certificate and proof of address. Players also need to weigh in. Sign-up will be held at the League Office, 4064 Schiff Drive (South of Spring Mountain Road off Valley View Boulevard). For more information call 873-4096.

Library to host free seminar

AIDS: A Faith Response is a free seminar being offered now through May 21 at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.

The seminar offers information on the disease, AIDS resources and the spiritual needs of AIDS patients.
