Madeline Burkett, 70, of Las Vegas died May 4 in a local hospital. A resident for many years, she was born Jan. 7, 1929.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth Burkett of Los Angeles.

Graveside services will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Fred Capel

Fred Capel, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in Fallbrook, Calif. He was born Nov. 20, 1919, in Boswell, Okla. A resident for 45 years, he was an architectural draftsman and a member of the Elks.

He is survived by two daughters, Carol Capel and Karen Bond, both of San Diego; two sisters, Minnie Wilson and Dasie Zackery, both of Edmond, Okla.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-4 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Vincent Scott Collins

Vincent Scott Collins, 36, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 27, 1962, in California. A resident for many years, he was an anesthesiologist.

He is survived by his wife, Isha S.; his parents, Jerome and Delores Collins of California; and several other family members, all of California.

Ben Dacus

Ben Dacus, 75, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 8, 1923, in Des Moines, Iowa. A resident for three years, he was a retired administrative officer for the federal government and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Jeraldine.

Lounell Edmond-McDaniel

Lounell Edmond-McDaniel, 56, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 2, 1943, in Tallulah, La. A resident for 46 years, she was a florist, member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Rose of Sharon 34.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy McDaniel of North Carolina and Joyce McDaniel of Las Vegas; four sons, Harvey D. Edmond, Cedric D. McDaniel, Leandrew L. McDaniel II and Eric J. Beverly, her mother, Jeanie Edmond, and four sisters, Janet A. Brown, Shirley I. Glasper, Valerie Bailey and Shante M. Edmond, all of Las Vegas; and four brothers, Mackie Lee Edmond, Ed Edmond Jr. and John Edmond, all of Las Vegas, and Simeno "Ty" Edmond of North Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 2-8 p.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Greater New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1100 N. D St. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Alvin Clarence Evenson Jr.

Alvin Clarence Evenson Jr., 75, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 26, 1924, in South Dakota. A resident for many years, he was a laborer and a veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Sonja Bettendorf of Las Vegas.

Herbert Ferguson

Herbert Ferguson, 91, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. He was born May 11, 1907, in Wayne County, W.Va. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired from civil service and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Anne; two daughters, Barbara McDaniel of Henderson and Sally Adams of Canoga Park, Calif.; one son, Steve Ferguson of Henderson; one sister, Ethel Beck of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 3 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Patricia V.E. Kaufman

Patricia V.E. Kaufman, 37, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 23, 1961, in Downey, Calif. A resident for four years, she was a grocery store checker.

She is survived by her husband, Ben; one son, Jarred Jamison Kaufman, and one daughter, McKenna Nicole Kaufman, both of Las Vegas; her parents, Diana M. and Carlos Espinoza of Chino, Calif.; two sisters, Alberta L. Slifkoff of Chino and Linda Rubin of Las Vegas; and four nephews.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Vickie McNamer

Vickie McNamer, 44, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born June 10, 1954, in Nurenburg, Germany. A resident for 12 years, she was an optician and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She is survived by her husband, Eric; one son, John McNamer of Las Vegas; two sisters, Sharren Zymyewski of Statesville, N.C., and Melanie Tank of Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, Albert Spears of Hampton, Ga., and Art Tank of Atlanta.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Calvary Chapel of Spring Valley, 7175 W. Oquendo Road. Burial will be private. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Florencio MondragonFlorencio Mondragon, 55, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born June 29, 1943, in Denver. A resident for 10 years, he was a chief engineer for a real estate firm and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Julie Mondragon and LeAnne Mondragon, both of Colorado; and six sisters, Consuelo Maasch, Clarinda Morales, Helen Onofrio, Fadey Steinbach and Gloria DeLeon, all of Colorado, and Patricia Rowe of Washington state.

Rafael Pacheco

Rafael Pacheco, 64, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 13, 1934, in Govenader, N.M. A resident for 54 years, he retired from the Sahara hotel-casino as a painter after 27 years, was a 1953 Las Vegas High School graduate, a Nevada Golden Gloves champion and was rated by Ring magazine as the leading contender in the United States in the flyweight division. He was a member of the Painters Union for 35 years and was active in several bowling leagues in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Pacheco; six daughters, Margaret Smith, Toni Romero and Mary Pacheco, all of Henderson, Ramona Binkley of Canyon Lake, Texas, and Christina Carrillo and Destiny Pacheco, both of North Las Vegas; three sons, Edward "Vince" Pacheco of Parowan, Utah, Thomas "Abel" Pacheco of San Antonio and John Carrillo of Henderson; two sisters, Julia Espinosa and Teresa Helen Sandoval, both of North Las Vegas; one brother, Jose Martinez of Salt Lake City; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the home of Rita Moore, 5504 Carnation Meadow St. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Veto A. Sandor

Veto A. Sandor, 77, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born May 18, 1921, in California. A resident for many years, he was disabled.

Alfonse J. Semola

Alfonse J. Semola, 80, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born April 18, 1919, in Philadelphia. A resident for 36 years, he was a retired pianist, conductor and composer who worked in the Riviera hotel-casino showroom for 17 years, composed "Christmas Is The Warmest Time Of The Year," which was also made into a video by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Shovi Tobush of Branson, Mo.

He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Collins, and one son, E.A. Collins, both of Las Vegas; three brothers, Anthony Semola and Louis Semola, both of Addon Heights, N.J., and Paul Semola of Las Vegas; two sisters, Jean Caffo of Las Vegas and Fortunata Duca of Yeadon, Pa.

Services were scheduled at 11 a.m. today in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road, followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Harold Siefman

Harold Siefman, 79, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 25, 1920, in Detroit. A resident for four years, he was a retired contractor, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Masons and Jewish War Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; three daughters, Karen Chester of Jacksonville, Fla., Valerie Brody of San Diego and Lori Cameron of Brentwood, Calif.; two sisters, Raye Malman of Flushing, N.Y., and Eve Saks of Plantation, Fla.; one brother, Joe Siefman of Detroit; and six grandchildren.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Graveside services will follow at 11 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Susan Tozzi

Susan Tozzi, 82, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 15, 1916, in Philadelphia. A resident for one year, she was a retired waitress.

She is survived by one son, Joseph Peter Tozzi of Linwood, N.J.; two daughters, Patricia Quigley of Henderson and Sandra Yanni of Mays Landing, N.J.; two sisters, Elvira Casciano of Fort Myers, Fla., and Mary Bernardo of Lakeview Terrace, Calif.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services and burial will be in New Jersey. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

James Valentine

James Valentine, 74, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 30, 1924, in Oliver, Pa. A resident for 35 years, he was a retired hotel-casino auditor in food and beverage and a World War II Merchant Marines and Coast Guard veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, Wayne Barile and James Valentine, and one daughter, Carol Ann Behar, all of Las Vegas; two cousins; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Lucille Youngblood

Lucille Youngblood, 68, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born March 15, 1931, in Texarkana, Ark. A resident for 39 years, she was a presser in the cleaning business.

She is survived by two brothers, LeRoy Youngblood of Detroit and Earl Fletcher of Texarkana, Texas; and two sisters, Essie B. Lemons of Rodeo, Calif., and Dempsey Youngblood of Detroit.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Jane Zimmer

Jane Zimmer, 80, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., died Sunday in Lake Havasu. She was born March 10, 1919, in Stevens Point, Wis. A former Las Vegas resident for two years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Zimmer of Lake Havasu and Jackie Bronson of Algonquin, Ill.; one son, Dennis A. Zimmer of Las Vegas; two sisters, Mary Louise Thomas of Wisconsin and Donna Patterson of Arizona; one brother, William Allen of Wisconsin; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. A private burial will follow.
