Drag racing: Stardust Memories at LVMS

Drag racing will pay homage to its Southern Nevada roots Saturday night with the third annual Stardust Memories at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway drag strip.

The race is named after the old Stardust International Raceway, which operated from 1966-71 in the southwest portion of the Las Vegas valley. The facility hosted major drag race events such as the NHRA National Open Division 7 points race, along with weekly features shows that included Top Fuel, Funny Car, Fuel Altereds, Junior Fuel and AA Gas Supercharged events.

Also featured on Saturday's card will be AA Fuel Altereds, Top Fuel Dragsters, Top Gas Dragsters and three brackets. All cars must be 1972 or older.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for seniors, military and children 6-12. Gates open at 4 p.m., with first-round eliminations set for 8 p.m.
