Henderson to swear in new councilman

Henderson's newest City Council member, Steve Kirk, will be sworn in Tuesday along with current council members Amanda Cyphers and Andy Hafen and Municipal Court Judge John Provost.

The ceremony is set for 5:45 p.m. in the council chambers in City Hall, 240 Water St. A reception will be held in the courtyard immediately following the ceremony.

Kirk takes the place of Councilman David Wood, who chose not to run for re-election.

Because all of the candidates won their seats with more than 50 percent of the vote in the May 4 primary, it was not necessary for the city to hold a general election June 8.
