Letter: Society, not guns at root of the problem

I grew up at this time as well. We had guns all around us that we could have picked up any time, because we did kill game for food.

But our parents taught us how to handle them, as well as our heroes Roy, Gene and Hopalong who kept us straight. I think we are seeing a moral decay of our society. Remember the old saying, "monkey see, monkey do."

As to the idea of renaming Columbine High School to Charlton Heston High, let's quit picking on Charlton Heston. He's a good man and doesn't believe nuts should have guns.

It's the nut behind the gun as it's the nut behind the wheel that causes the problems.
