Letter: Tears over gasoline prices not justified

If gas gets to be rationed, it would easily top $8 per gallon; more on the black market. Compared with the rest of the world, our gasoline is still a bargain.

So what if the oil companies want to make a profit? We live in a capitalist society and a company is free to make some profit. If a person doesn't want to pay the going rate, get a bicycle and buy good food, so he can power it a long distance.
