Passenger traffic at McCarran increased in April

The passenger count rose to 2,799,590 in April, compared to 2,571,603 for the same month last year. Officials said it was the seventh consecutive month passenger traffic has increased.

For the year, the number of passengers arriving and departing McCarran increased 8.5 percent, from 9,948,247 to 10,791,106.

United Airlines posted the highest increase among airlines serving Las Vegas, up 11.1 percent over April 1998. Southwest Airlines followed with a 10.4 percent increase and Delta had an increase of 8.4 percent.

Reno Air was down 5.4 percent, followed by America West with a 1.5 percent decrease.
