Manager leaves Stupak

Local marketing professional Kate Hitt announced Tuesday she is no longer affiliated with Nevada Stupak's campaign for Las Vegas City Council.

In a faxed press release to local media, Hitt asked, "Please remove my name from any reference you may have regarding this race."

In an interview, Hitt chalked her departure up to "just some professional differences."

She would not elaborate on what caused her to leave the campaign that she at one time told reporters she was managing.

Hitt still had fond words for the 23-year-old son of casino entrepreneur Bob Stupak in his bid to unseat Gary Reese in Ward 3.

"He's a dynamic, charismatic man and if he doesn't win this one -- even though I think he will -- he'll definitely be a factor in the future," Hitt said.

She added that Stupak's mother, Sandy Blumen, is now running the campaign.
