Letter: Raising gun age doesn't make sense

The latest seems to be the move to raise the age of handgun purchases to 21. If someone can vote, marry, sign a contract or enlist in the armed forces at 18, he or she should be able to do anything any other adult can do. You are either an adult or you or not.

If this latest effort to further reduce our liberties actually goes through, I believe the draft age will have to be raised also. I know the draft is not currently in use, but with Yugoslavia, who knows? Remember, Vietnam started with a few airplanes and a few advisers. I recall a sergeant in my squadron getting orders in 1961 to go to South Vietnam "wherever that was."
