Letter: Strong efforts made on UNLV's behalf

These formulas did not anticipate the phenomenal growth in Clark County, nor did they account for the swelling enrollments at CCSN and UNLV. As a result the funding disparity between the institutions in Nevada grew.

Although all involved had different inequity figures, everyone agreed that their figures would be held up to the light of the MGT study, and that the inequity as determined by MGT would stand over any other figure.

Rather than suggesting that people eat crow over the inequity figures they used, you should recognize their efforts for what they were: outstanding. These individuals, including President Carol Harter and Regent Steve Sisolak, fought valiantly to get this study completed. I'm proud to say they have succeeded.

Every student in Nevada should have access to a quality education built on equitable funding. Anyone who has the courage to champion the rights of the students they represent, as did Harter and Sisolak, are heroes in my book.
