Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers hikes and walks free of charge, but reservations are required for all programs, which begin at the Visitors Center.

Moonlight Hike: Discover Red Rock at night by moonlight and explore the active world of a desert after dark on a 2-mile moderate hike Sunday.

Church seeks help with food program

St. Matthew's Episcopal Church will stage a free benefit show for the church's Emergency Food Outreach Program at 7 p.m. Friday at the Whitney Library, 5175 E. Tropicana Ave.

The food program has an urgent need for a van to move donated food items. Call 898-0321.

Awareness luncheon set at Alexis Park

The Alexis Park hotel will host a DUI awareness luncheon 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday to benefit Stop DUI to help further its education, awareness and victim assistance programs.

Entertainment, a raffle and a gourmet barbecue are planned. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased or reservations can be made through P.R. Plus, 1555 E. Flamingo, Suite 421. Call 456-STOP.

Tree-planting will honor president's mother

A tree-planting ceremony honoring the late Virginia Clinton Kelly, mother of President Clinton, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Paradise Park.

The paradise Democratic Club in conjunction with the state and county Democratic parties are sponsoring the event.

Kelly was a frequent visitor to Southern Nevada. The program will include comments by Sens. Harry Reid and Richard Bryan, Democratic Party Chairman Rory Reid and other prominent Democrats. The public is welcome to attend.

Awareness program planned over weekend

The Las Vegas branch office for the National Missing Children's Locate Center will be commemorating National Missing Children's Day 4-9 p.m. Saturday through Monday at the All American Sports Park, 121 E. Sunset Road.

The event will include children's fingerprinting with ID kits and free distribution of children's safety literature to assist parents in "street-proofing" their children. Call 735-5558.

Class offered Friday for those with problems

Credit Repair: Fact Or Fiction. The class offered by the Consumer Credit Counseling Bureau will held 9-10:30 a.m. Friday at 3650 S. Decatur Blvd., Suite 32.

Those attending the class will receive copies of their personal histories and learn how creditors interpret the information.

Class fee is $20 per individual or $30 per couple. Call 364-0344.

Service organization woos new members

The District I clubs of Soroptimist International are holding an informal program 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday at the Las Vegas Library, 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North, to introduce local businesswomen to the organization.

Sunrise opens new rehabilitation center

The Center for Cancer Rehabilitation, a new program at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, recently opened to serve adult and pediatric cancer patients.

The center uses individualized case management, physicians who develop a rehabilitation plan and nursing, clinical pharmacy and counseling services and support groups. It also deals with nutritional, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy services.

FOR THE RECORD A free Cancer Survivors Day will take place at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center from 1:30 to 4 p.m. June 6. The event will honor the courage and strength of all cancer survivors and will provide an opportunity for survivors to share their experiences.
