The neighboring Cal-Neva is leasing it and plans to lease the Riverboat Hotel and Casino across the street as well, giving it another 296 hotel rooms.
When the Virginian went dark in July 1997, it became one of six downtown Reno casinos to close between March 1995 and last November.
Cal-Neva President and Chief Executive Officer Phil Bryan says it's the Cal-Neva's hope to eventually buy out the Virginian.
The French company that bought the Virginian says that it, in turn, has its eyes on a possible acquisition of the Cal-Neva.
