I just do not understand their animosity that they feel toward anyone who is not hedonistic, but who cares about the well-being of his fellow man.
It seems to me that the "Christian Right" would condemn many of the people cited in the parables contained in the New Testament. "The Good Samaritan" is a prime example of the "Christian" compassion of one man for a less fortunate human being, regardless of his status in society.
The conservative right has made an adjective of the word "liberal" which they use in a negative way to demean anyone who shows compassion for the less fortunate in our society.
They would rather see the rich get richer and let the poor die of hunger, malnourished and without the wherewithal to see a doctor.
God help our nation if this is what we are all about.
