Police investigate discovery of body in recycling center

Police believe the victim, a 32-year-old Las Vegas man, may have been in a load of trash that was compacted.

"There's nothing to indicate the death was homicidal in nature," Lt. Wayne Petersen, head of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police homicide section, said Wednesday.

"Doctors didn't find any injuries to indicate it was a homicide," Petersen said of an autopsy by the Clark County Coroner's office. "The injuries were more consistent with being compacted in the trash."

"We don't know how he ended up in a trash dumpster," Petersen said.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
