The 126-room Virginian Hotel-Casino reopens on Thursday, almost two years after it closed.
The neighboring Cal-Neva is leasing it and plans to lease the Riverboat Hotel and Casino across the street as well, giving it another 296 hotel rooms.
When the Virginian went dark in July 1997, it became one of six downtown Reno casinos to close between March 1995 and last November.
