Editorial: More traffic officers are a welcome sight

In addition to hiring six more officers to join the bureau's 79 traffic officers, Metro will spend significantly more time patrolling the most dangerous intersections. Unsafe drivers will continue their reckless ways unless they believe that they might be stopped by the police for speeding or running red lights. The vast majority of valley drivers obey traffic laws, so the presence of more traffic officers will be a welcome sight, offering more peace of mind when they get behind the wheel of their cars.
