Letter: Council right to delay review board

I am one of those individuals in the middle on this issue. We need a proper, open review board. But this ordinance, as it stands, lacks most of the necessary safeguards to prevent it from becoming the out-of-control, budget-busting entity its counterparts have become in so many cities.

My first "thank you" goes to the Sun and reporter Erin Neff for the far more comprehensive coverage of this very important meeting than was given by the Brand X daily.

The second goes to Mayor Jan Laverty Jones and Councilman Michael McDonald who kept the meeting from degenerating into a shouting match by threatening Anthony Snowden and his shouting and cursing claque with arrest.

And the third and final "thank you" goes again to Mayor Jones for insisting that Las Vegas get a real voice in hiring the board's director and helping to assure that Las Vegans get a seat at the county table when they pay 40 percent of the costs for this board.
