Police investigate vandalism

Deputy Police Chief Jim Johns branded the action a practical joke, saying someone appeared to be poking fun at the portable building, which was installed in February to relieve overcrowding in the main courthouse.

While no property was damaged, the exterior of part-time judge Ken Howard's court was strewn with dirty laundry, a clothesline, old tires and spray-painted signs identifying it as "kourt"

Although city officials said two police officers could be involved, Johns said he has no idea who was responsible for the Thursday night incident.

Police Chief Jerry Hoover issued a statement Friday asking any officer involved to come forward and apologize for the action.
