Caesars Palace and Mirage Resorts Inc. were recognized as best in the hotel-casino industry in a new report issued by the American Hotel Foundation.
The study selected 144 hotels and companies as "best practice champions" -- companies that stood out for their innovations in attracting new customers and improving property operations. Caesars received the award for best practice champion among individual hotel-casinos, while Mirage Resorts received the corporate award in the hotel-casino industry.
Caesars stood out because of its "efforts to create a mystique" at the property, successfully blending fiction and fantasy. As a result, Caesars stands out as "a place for champions and high rollers."
On the corporate end, Mirage Resorts stood out for "creating artistically pleasing hotels for guests and employees." The company's employees are encouraged to promote new ideas and management philosophies, leading to constant innovation -- something the report credited with resulting in a 98.7 percent chain-wide occupancy rate at Mirage's properties.
The study was conducted by researchers at Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration. Funding came from the American Express and the American Hotel Foundation, a subsidiary of the American Hotel & Motel Association.
