Community center plans event Saturday

A free health fair featuring hearing and vision tests, blood pressure testing, body fat analysis, nutrition and massage will be held 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Desert Breeze Community Center, 8275 Spring Mountain Road.

St. Rose urgent care centers schedule shots

St. Rose Dominican Hospital's Urgent Care Centers will hold flu clinics noon-4 p.m. Saturdays through Nov. 13.

Flu shots are $10. No appointment is necessary. Urgent Care centers are located in the Parkway Medical Plaza, 100 N. Green Valley Parkway, Henderson, and the Hartwell Medical Center at Warm Springs Road and Shadow Crest.

Free classes on tap on Thursday evenings

The American Cancer Society is offering free classes on cancer 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursdays through Dec. 9 at Southwest Cancer Clinic, 3920 S. Eastern Ave., Suite 203.

Topics include cancer treatments, keeping well, self esteem, resources and support. To register, call 798-6877.

Donations of turkeys needed to feed homeless

The Salvation Army is seeking turkey donations to feed the valley's homeless.

"We are serving over 1,100 meals a day, and our donations of fresh meat are not keeping up with the need," Lt. Colonel Jim Sullivan said.

Donations of one or more turkeys may be dropped off at the Salvation Army dining room at 35 W. Owens Ave. or at 2900 Palomino Lane.

The Southern Nevada Association of Polio Survivors, a support group for people experiencing the late effects of polio, will hold its first organizational meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, 657 Town Center Drive, conference room 1. Call 644-5091.

Immunizations

Health District immunization clinics are open each week in Southern Nevada. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of four public health centers and 36 satellite clinics. The following clinics will be open this week, Nov. 3 - 9:

NORTH LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 3262 Civic Center Drive, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

HENDERSON PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 129 W. Lake Mead Drive, Building A, Suite 10, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

EAST LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

BOULDER CITY CLINIC: Multi-Purpose Building, 1204 6th St., 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m., Wednesday.
