Executive honored for work with disabled

An executive at the New York-New York hotel-casino was honored by Gov. Kenny Guinn's office for his efforts in promoting awareness of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Doug Wyrsch, the New York-New York's director of risk management, received the "Angel Award" on Oct. 21 from the Governor's Committee on the Employment of People with Disabilities. The award was presented to Wyrsch for his ADA awareness and compliance efforts within the hospitality industry.

"Doug's understanding of the importance of business talking to business and encouraging voluntary compliance with ADA has enabled our resorts to provide a better quality of guest service for people with disabilities visiting Las Vegas," said Scott Scherer, general counsel to Guinn. "He has helped lay the groundwork for change in employee training, new construction and remodeling, as well as the employment policies of numerous hotel properties."
