LV company turns a profit

Casino Journal Publishing Group Inc. of Las Vegas reported net income of $36,500 for the third quarter of 1999, up from a loss of $105,900 a year ago.
The company earned 1 cent per share, compared to a loss of 2 cents per share in the year-ago quarter.
Revenues during the period increased 36 percent, to $2.97 million. The company's income from operations was $127,300, up from a loss of $223,000 a year ago.
The company said it recorded the fourth consecutive quarter of 50 percent-plus growth in subscription revenue, the result of an "aggressive marketing campaign" and the launch of its "Strictly Slots" magazine in December 1998. Subscription revenues rose 74 percent during the quarter, to $791,000.
Casino Journal publishes "Casino Journal," a gaming industry trade magazine, and "Strictly Slots," a publication aimed at frequent slot players.
