Foothill Road may get parking area

The environmental assessment prepared by the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management proposes a small parking area off Foothill Road, providing access to trails into Faye-Luther Canyon and the Carson Range.
Public comments on the environmental assessment will be accepted for 30 days.
The project has been opposed by some neighboring land owners, who fear trail users could start wildfires or cause other problems.
The study concludes the project would have no significant environmental impact.
"This is our best shot at what we think is a good compromise," said Gary Schiff, of the Forest Service's Carson Ranger District.
