Letter: Dirt-track racing wanted
Friday, Nov. 19, 1999 | 10:12 a.m.
Like thousands of others, I find hard-track racing about as exciting as driving to work in Las Vegas. On the other hand, late models racing on small dirt tracks has been compared to fighter jets in a school gym.
My proposal is an October East/West challenge for these cars and drivers on the half mile "Magic Mud" track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It would be run in two or three nights like the November World of Outlaws sprint cars. Las Vegas is a perfect site for this sort of event and I'll bet there are a few thousand closet dirt fans willing to pay to see it. It's only a dream now. But if and when it becomes reality, put me down for six seats.
