Medical center will be named after vet

Legislation naming the new wing after Reno lawyer Jack Street was passed last week by the U.S. Senate. The legislation was co-sponsored by Sens. Harry Reid and Richard Bryan, both D-Nev.

The 77-year-old Ely native served in the 1st Infantry Division, where he was awarded five Silver Stars, five Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars for his service.

"For years the name Jack Streeter has been synonymous with heroism for thousands of Nevada veterans and their families," Reid said. "Naming this new wing after him is a perfect way to keep him and what he stands for in our hearts forever."

Streeter, a former Washoe County district attorney, was recently selected by the Nevada regents for their Distinguished Nevadan award.
