Senate bill means more space for trees

If passed by the House and signed into law, the measure authored by Bryan would adjust the boundaries of the Toiyabe National Forest in Douglas County.

Lands previously managed by the Forest Service now will move under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Land Management. That means land owners will only have to deal with one federal agency if they choose to use a conservation easement to help preserve open space, he said.

"This will certainly make the process less bureaucratic and more user friendly," Bryan said today.
