Former lawyer for Mustang Ranch, Conforte suspended

The Nevada Supreme Court last week ordered Perry's temporary suspension because of his plea in the legal tangle that resulted in the brothel's closure.

The Reno lawyer also once represented fugitive brothel boss Joe Conforte, who reportedly is living in South America.

Perry pleaded guilty to a reduced charge - a felony involving charges of illegal wire transfers - in exchange for his testimony against the brothel owners during a trial this summer.

He was sentenced to six months of community confinement and another six months and a day of home confinement. He also was ordered to pay a $20,000 fine and perform 100 hours of community service.

The brothel owners were found guilty of racketeering and other charges and ordered to forfeit the brothel to the federal government.
