Handful of UNR students "buy nothing"

The protesters held the noontime event Friday near Meadowood Mall.
"Can You Buy Your Children's Love?" read one banner held by the group at Reno's busiest intersection, McCarran Boulevard and South Virginia Street.
"I'm not against buying things," protester Pete Menchetti said. "But on this biggest shopping day of the year, people should think twice about it. It's over-consumption."
If anything, local residents should buy from locally owned stores and not nationwide chains, he said.
"Our choices are running out," he said.
