A Swedish company will begin seasonal charter flights between Stockholm, Sweden, and Las Vegas next month.
Stockholm-based Nova Airlines, which began flying in 1997, is contracted with Apolloresor, Sweden's third-largest tour operator, to offer weekly flights for six months beginning Oct. 30.
McCarran International Airport officials were in Miami this week completing details on the charters, which will be offered Saturdays. Nova, which is known as Novair, will use 310-passenger Lockheed 1011-500 Tristar jumbo jets for the flights. The company is the process of selling its four L-1011 jets and will convert to slightly larger Airbus A-330 twin-engine jets, possibly before the end of the charter contract.
Novair flies Swedish tourists to Miami, Greece, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Bali and Cancun, Mexico, in the summer season. Apolloresor, which has about 400,000 customers a year, offers tours from several Scandinavian cities to those cities and Phuket and Bangkok, Thailand, in the winter months.
