Student arrested on father's tip

When the boy was called out of class early Tuesday, school police found an unloaded .38-caliber pistol in his pocket. He did not have any ammunition, officials said.

The 17-year-old was arrested for bringing a weapon on campus. He was booked into Wittenberg Hall and placed on emergency suspension from school. His name was not released.
