Ralph M. Avjian

Ralph M. Avjian, 72, of Henderson died Friday in a local hospice. He was born Oct. 14, 1926, in Melrose, Mass. A resident for one year, he was a retired mechanical and electrical engineer in the aviation industry and a World War II Coast Guard veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; one son, Jim Avijian of Caldwell, Idaho; two daughters, Mary Holley of Basalt, Colo., and Lynda Maas of Broken Bow, Neb.; two brothers, Jim Avjian of Irvine, Calif., and Walter Avjian of North Reeding, Mass.; two sisters, Helen MacKnight of North Andover, Mass., and Addie Ruggles of Haverhill, Mass.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, Henderson. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

Robert A. Banegas Jr.

Robert A. Banegas Jr., of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 18, 1956, in Mesa, Ariz. A resident for 33 years, he was a laborer in the construction industry.

He is survived by one daughter, Veronica Guzman, one son, Carlos Banegas, his mother, Annabell Banegas, one sister, Debra A. Lopez, and one brother, Ruben A. Banegas, all of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Main. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Deborah 'Boogie' Batista

Deborah 'Boogie' Batista, 31, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 15, 1967, in Denver. A resident for four years, she was a UNLV graduate.

She is survived by her husband, Amaury; one son, Amaury M. Batista of Las Vegas; her father, Steven Jung of Denver; and two sisters, Ping-Lee De Rogatis and Kathlene Pullman, both of Las Vegas.

No local services are scheduled. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Mary F. Brown

Mary F. Brown, 72, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 22, 1926, in Greenville, Miss. A resident for 22 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one nephew, Arthur Payne of Las Vegas; one brother Rosevelt Nash of Mississippi; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in American Burial and Cremation. A private burial will follow.

Virtease P. Brown

Virtease P. Brown, 76, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 21, 1923, in San Antonio. A resident for 25 years, she was a retired aircraft mechanic.

She is survived by one daughter, Gloria Jean Lockett of Atlanta; one brother, Porter D. Mathis of Seattle; and two sons, Ralph Brown of Las Vegas and Roland Brown of California.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Bunkers Chapel. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Eleanor Champan

Eleanor Champan, 78, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 18, 1920, in New York City. A resident for 33 years, she was a retired waitress.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Ritchie and Colleen Nier, both of Las Vegas, and Maureen Lauret of West Bend, Wis.; two sons, Cordy Champan of Chino Hills, Calif., and Patrick Champan of Alpine, Calif.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Joyce G. Clark

Joyce G. Clark, 56, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 4, 1943, in Tooele, Utah. A resident for 28 years, she was a civil service comptroller.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin L.; one daughter, Billie Jo Edwards Taney of Las Vegas; four brothers, Don Griffith of Grantsville, Utah, Albert Griffith of Taylersville, Utah, and Marlow Griffith and Sherman Griffith, both of Lake Point, Utah; two sisters, Colleen Garrett and Gloria Smith, both of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Chester Earl Davis

Chester Earl Davis, 75, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Purdy, Mo. A resident for 43 years, he was a Nevada Test Site employee and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; one daughter, Jeanie Faye Jones of Las Vegas; one son, David W. Davis of Cedar Creek, Mo.; three brothers, Ray R. Davis of Cedar Creek, Donny Jo Davis of Springfield, Mo., and J.C. Wise of Higginsville, Mo.; two sisters, Edith P. Shelley of Omaha, Neb., and Juanita Bisbee of Denver; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Angelina Day

Angelina Day, 73, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 13, 1926, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 18 years, she was a retired seamstress.

She is survived by her husband, William F.; two daughters, Theresa Newman of Henderson and Susan Coles of Las Vegas; one son, William F. Day III of Fort Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today with services at 6:30 p.m. in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Hazel G. Dummitt

Hazel G. Dummitt, 86, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born July 24, 1913, in Elliot County, Ky. A resident for five years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Ivan; one daughter, Kaye Dummitt-Villaret of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Daniel Stuart Fuchs

Daniel Stuart Fuchs, 56, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born May 13, 1943, in New York City. A resident for eight years, he was a travel agency owner-operator.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; three daughters, Randi Fuchs of Boca Raton, Fla., Stefani Rae of New York City and Alicia Hoffman of San Diego; two sons, Lenny Fuchs of Queens, N.Y., and Seth Wurzel of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; and one sister, Barbara Glazer of White Plains, N.Y.

Services were scheduled at noon today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Joseph S. Gardetto

Joseph S. Gardetto, 62, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospice. He was born Aug. 20, 1937, in Los Angeles. A resident for two years, he was a retired truck driver for a wholesale meat distributor and a Korean War Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; one daughter, Sharon Marie Bussey of Henderson; two sisters, Gloria Granados of Glendale, Calif., and Linda Wheeler of Henderson; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Ruth Fuss Gentry

Ruth Fuss Gentry, 98, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Oct. 7, 1900, in London. A resident for 25 years, she was a retired clothing designer.

She is survived by one son, Harry Siemen of Centerville, Ga.; her companion, Evangeline Young of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.

Delores I. Herron

Delores I. Herron, 65, of Boulder City died Friday in a local hospital. She was born June 27, 1934, in Utah. A resident for nine years, she was a receptionist for the Bureau of Reclamation, a Korean War Navy veteran and an avid bowler.

She is survived by two sons, Steve Herron of Bellevue, Neb., and Mark Herron of Henderson; two daughters, Cindy McFarland of Tracy, Calif., and Tammy Norgren of Boulder City; one sister, Dorothy Thompson of Bountiful, Utah; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Irving 'Harry' Katzen

Irving 'Harry' Katzen, 71, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. He was born Oct. 29, 1927, in Chelsea, Mass. A resident for seven years, he was a retired owner-operator of an investment company, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of Elks Lodge No. 948 and American Legion, both in Miami.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara A.; three daughters, Patti Hanlon of Revere, Mass., Susan Marsinelli of Everett, Mass., and Linda Oglesby of Miami; three sons, John Dodd of Auburn, Ala., and Jack Katzen and Robert Katzen, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Jeanette Hyman of Boca Raton, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Elizabeth Laverna Peters

Elizabeth Laverna Peters, 88, of North Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born May 1, 1911, in Leamington, Utah. A resident of 67 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Jean White and Leila Porter, and one son, Leroy Peters, all of North Las Vegas; one brother, Delbert Bradfield of Vernal, Utah; one sister, Opal Baker of Fallon; nine grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Saturday in the Civic Center and Tonopah LDS Chapel. Burial will be in Eden Vale Mausoleum.

Rose Prescia

Rose Prescia, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 26, 1914, in Cincinnati. A resident for 18 years, she was a retired seamstress.

She is survived by three sons, John Prescia and Anthony Prescia, both of Las Vegas, and Joseph Prescia of New York; one sister, Vera Basile, and one brother, Jerry Ottaviano, both of California; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Glenn Roy Rice

Glenn Roy Rice, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Las Vegas. A resident for 35 years, he was a steel mill factory worker and an employee of the Golden Nugget and Binion's Horseshoe.

He is survived by friends, Harold and Denise Barfoot of Las Vegas.

Sonny Vickrey

Sonny Vickrey, 78, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Monday in Ocean Springs. He was born Feb. 25, 1921, in Carriere, Miss. A former Las Vegas resident, he was a longtime gaming employee with the Boomtown Casino in Reno, Las Vegas and Biloxi, Miss., a World War II Merchant Marine veteran and a softball coach.

He is survived by his wife, Leilani; two sons, Troy and Trent; one daughter, Trisha; two sisters, Lois Thompson and Margie Pitalo and one brother, Vic Vickrey, all of Biloxi; and three grandchildren.

Esperanza Batara Viloria

Esperanza Batara Viloria, 64, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. A retired hotel industry housekeeper, she was born July 10, 1935, in Manila, Philippines.

She is survived by her husband, Angel Realin Viloria; two daughters, Nora Viloria of Las Vegas and Nenita Corpuz of Maui, Hawaii; six sons, Herbert Viloria, Ernesto Viloria and Renato Viloria, all of Las Vegas, and Eduardo Viloria, Nestor Viloria and Romulo Viloria, all of Maui; 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Kenneth Widder

Kenneth Widder, 55, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born April 26, 1944, in Antigo, Wis. A resident for 15 years, he was a flooring technician at a school, a Vietnam War Navy master chief and Navy veteran and a member of the Fleet Reverse Association.

He is survived by his wife, Judith.
