Hotel-casino names president

Las Vegas Sands Inc. named Robert Goldstein president of the Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino.

Goldstein has served as senior vice president of Las Vegas Sands since 1995, where he helped recruit restauranteurs and retailers for the Venetian's Grand Canal Shoppes. He will retain his vice presidency at Las Vegas Sands, and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Venetian.

Bill Weidner, who was acting as president of the Venetian, will continue to serve as president and chief operating officer of Las Vegas Sands, while Bradley Stone, executive vice president, will continue to oversee the Venetian's corporate operations, overseeing the build-out of the hotel-casino's proposed second phase.

The 3,036-room Venetian opened in May.
