Letter: Review board will wear out welcome

My opinion is the sheriff wants both sides of the coin for a gubernatorial run. There is no denying that Metro has a bad reputation and a review board can shake things up. A review board is like chemotherapy in that once it has done its job it must be stopped or it will start a new sickness in itself.

A man spoke of the dangers to the County Commission about an out-of-control review board leading to a call for a national police force. He was ignored or ridiculed as he spoke; apparently he failed to mention he was a labeled Jew living in Germany in 1939 and he had seen local police forces nationalized by good intentions.

It is my belief that an honest and respected police department cannot be brought about by outside forces. The new review board should be left behind when it begins to harm Metro morale as it surely will.
