No charges expected for Motley Crue bassist Sixx

The attorney for the rock band Motley Crue said he expects that criminal charges will be dropped against bass player Nikki Sixx and two of three crew members involved in an altercation with police after a Las Vegas concert.

Sixx and the others were not in court today for arraignment on the charges that the musician tried to incite a riot at the Aug. 11 concert at Mandalay Bay and that crew members confronted police who came to arrest Sixx after the performance.

Attorney Michael Amador said videotape evidence of the concert "doesn't support any criminal charges" that Sixx was urging violence.

"Once District Attorney Stewart Bell has reviewed the tape, we'll discuss resolution of the matter," Amador said. "I think Bell is an honorable man and will do the right thing."

Amador emphasized, however, that he "will not stop short of dismissal without conditions."

Bell said today that he has seen the video once and there are some questions in his mind whether it shows what police have alleged occurred.

But Bell said he needs to further review the tape before a decision will be made on the criminal charges against Sixx, whose real name is Frank Carlton Ferrano.

Amador said he also expects that charges of obstructing a police officer will be dropped against two crew members, Geoff Perren and Christopher Reynolds.

A third crew member, John Gabrielli, is alleged to have pushed a Metro Police officer and was arrested on a gross misdemeanor charge of battery on a police officer.

Although Amador said a security video at Mandalay Bay shows a different scene from that recorded in police reports, he conceded Gabrielli "may have made contact with a police officer and was subdued by several other officers."

The case is set to return to Justice Court on Friday for further proceedings. Band members are not expected to be present. The case involving the misdemeanor charges against Sixx, Perren and Reynolds is being handled by Justice of the Peace Doug Smith. Gabrielli's case is in Justice of the Peace Deborah Lippis' courtroom.

Sixx is charged with provoking a breach of the peace during the concert attended by more than 8,000 fans.

Police went to arrest Sixx around midnight and a scuffle broke out between crew members and officers, leading to the three other arrests.
