Las Vegas company sold to Dallas giant

FreshPoint Inc. of Dallas acquired Collins Produce of Las Vegas, its 29th fresh produce distributor, to expand in the growing local market. Terms weren't disclosed.

FreshPoint said it's the nation's largest distributor of fresh produce to the food service industry with more than $750 million in annual sales.

FreshPoint, which has been delivering fresh produce into Southern Nevada through its 200-employee California subsidiary, G&G Produce, will merge that business into the Collins operation. The combined operation, FreshPoint of Las Vegas, will take over G&G's customers including Las Vegas hotels and restaurants. FreshPoint of Las Vegas plans to retain Collins' 100 employees. Jim Moore, Collins' president, will serve as president of the new FreshPoint of Las Vegas.
