Government looks at development of land near Davis Dam

The bureau announced this week it has hired Robert Aukerman, a professor of natural resources at Colorado State University, to develop a plan for the land, which is in Arizona and Nevada.

Bill Martin, a Bureau of Reclamation natural resource specialist, said any development would have to be compatible with the area and the recreation uses of the river.

"We don't want to build a casino. We don't want to build a power plant," Martin said. "We are also not going to put in anything that is going to tear up the land or would affect water or air quality."

People have suggested projects including a golf course, an event center, campgrounds and trails for the land, Martin said.

The bureau plans a public meeting in Bullhead City in late February or early March.
