Editor moves to the Nevada Appeal

Gardner's last day at the paper is Friday.

Reporter Christy Chalmers has been promoted to news editor. She has covered Douglas County government for 18 months. Before that, Chalmers headed the Appeal's Douglas County coverage for several years.

Gardner, who joined the Record-Courier in 1981, has been editor for the past 10 years. She previously worked for the Lorain (Ohio) Journal and for The Associated Press in Columbus, Ohio; Newark, N.J.; New York City, and Carson City.
