Hospital thinks 5 percent discount a plus

The hospital's board voted to approve a policy change that says self-pay patients will get the break if their bill is fully paid within 45 days after they go home.

The new policy takes effect immediately, but does not apply to patients with insurance, insurance deductibles and co-pays.

The discount applies to hospital charges only.
