One dead, one injured in Reno knife fight

The men apparently began arguing on Lake Street around 7 p.m. Monday, police Lt. Ken Bunker said. It turned deadly when both men pulled knives.

The two men allegedly cut and slashed at each other as they fought between the apartments from 669 to 701 Lake Street.

Bunker said the blood trail was more than 250 feet long.

"We think it was probably a fight between residents living in the apartment complexes there," Bunker said. "We have no indication that it was any type of gang activity."

Both men were taken to Washoe Medical Center. One man died. His name was withheld until relatives are notified.

The second man, identified as Maurice Meka, 38, was being treated.

Police were rounding up witnesses and trying to determine what happened.

"Right now we have no clue what may have sparked this," Bunker said.
