Fraternities changing at UNR

Student Matthew Free said he will submit a petition this month asking Alpha Lambda Tau for official recognition.

He said the group is hoping to obtain colony status, a try-out process before becoming an official fraternity, from both the national fraternity and UNR Interfraternity Council.

"Thoughout my college career, I didn't always have support," Free said. "I would like to see others have a support system."

A mentor program for younger gay males is a top priority of the group, he said.
