Trip to boat show leads to unlikely prize for Glen Rock woman

Tanis, 73, of Glen Rock, took a bus here with her husband, who went to the boat show. She decided to bide her time playing the slot machines at Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort.

After playing $9 worth of quarters, she hit a $1.5 million jackpot on a Wheel of Fortune machine Sunday.

"I guess I just bought my husband a boat," she said. "I still can't believe this happened to me. I was shaking in my boots."

She was given a check for $78,277 on the spot. She will get that much annually for the next 19 years.

Tanis and her husband Charles are retired from their concrete business, Tanis & Son. She said she plans to share her newfound wealth.

"I'll spread it around to the kids, give some to my church, go to the Bahamas and I think I'll buy a BMW convertible. Hmmm. On second thought, once I buy the car, there goes the money for the kids," she said.
