The Energy Department plans a hearing in North Las Vegas Friday on radiation-related illnesses of workers and former workers in DOE weapons operations.
The agency is expected to hear testimony from workers, their families, union representatives and residents regarding work-related illnesses.
Legislation being proposed by the Clinton administration would cover workers who were exposed to radiation-related diseases while working at various weapons facilities.
Thousands of Southern Nevadans worked at the Nevada Test Site, where the nation's nuclear weapons were tested for 45 years.
